A 36-year-old man died by gunshot wound at a gun range in Nonthaburi Province on August 18 after taking a rented firearm outside despite staff warnings; family members said he had a history of depression.
At 11:30 a.m. on August 18, 2025, Colonel Thatsagorn Kontong, superintendent of Bang Bua Thong Station, received a report of a fatal shooting at a gun range in Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. He proceeded to investigate along with several officers and forensic staff. The body of a 36-year-old man, identified only as A, was found lying in a pool of blood outside the shooting range building. He wore a white t-shirt and long denim pants and had a gunshot wound to the head. An 11mm firearm was found nearby.
According to statements from the range instructor who witnessed the incident, the deceased was a regular customer who rented firearms at the range. Before the shooting, the man attempted to remove the rented gun from the range, but the instructor stopped him and prohibited removal of the weapon. The man then claimed he wanted to go outside for a cigarette but used the opportunity to take the gun and shoot himself outside the range.
Family members told investigators that the deceased had a history of depression, suggesting the incident was likely a result of his medical condition. Preliminary forensic examination showed the gunshot wound was to the right temple. The body was then handed over to rescue officials for transport to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for detailed autopsy.
