A man has died after being struck by a train near Buriram Railway Station, with witnesses reporting that he walked onto the tracks as the train approached. On September 23 at 5:30 p.m., Deputy Inspector Sumanes Nadti of Buriram City Police received a report from Buriram Railway Station staff about the incident. Emergency responders and hospital doctors were immediately dispatched to the scene.
At the location, police found the body of a man aged approximately 30-40 years lying on the tracks with his left arm and left leg severed. He was wearing a black t-shirt and brown shorts. No identification documents were found on him. About 200 meters from the body, Freight Train No. 551, operated by diesel locomotive No. 4555, was stopped at the station. The train had departed from Laem Chabang Station in Chon Buri and was traveling to Ubon Ratchathani Province.
Railway station staff provided preliminary information that a ticket found on the man indicated he had traveled from Lamplaimat District to Buriram Station before walking onto the tracks while the freight train was passing through. Rail personnel at the scene reported that the train was traveling at approximately 50 kilometers per hour when the incident occurred. However, it cannot yet be determined whether the death was intentional or accidental pending further investigation of evidence.
Police will initially examine closed-circuit camera footage from around the station, interview railway staff and witnesses, and gather additional evidence to determine the cause and confirm the victim's identity.
