Police Bust Massive Underground Gambling Den in Bangkok
Police raided an illegal gambling den in Bangkok's Din Daeng district on September 23, detaining 53 people and seizing nearly 1 million baht in cash and chips from the high-tech operation.
The Department of Local Administration conducted a swift raid on an illegal gambling den operating inside a Din Daeng apartment at 513 Ruam Rak Soi, Pracha Songkhro Road, Din Daeng District, Bangkok, on September 23. Officers found a large hall with over 50 gamblers actively playing high-tech dice games and gaming machines. When they spotted authorities, gamblers attempted to flee but were all apprehended.
Eight operators and 45 gamblers—22 men and 23 women—were detained. Two Cambodian nationals were identified as organizers, though no one claimed ownership of the operation. Seized items included approximately 350,000 baht in cash, 635,000 baht in gambling chips, high-tech dice gaming equipment, ledgers documenting cash flows, and additional gambling devices.
The raid followed complaints from Din Daeng residents about serious disturbances from the large-scale illegal gambling operation. Local authorities conducted surveillance, confirmed the operation, and executed a surprise blitz-style raid to cut off escape routes and immediately control the scene. All suspects and evidence were handed over to Din Daeng Police Station for legal proceedings, with investigators also pursuing related money-laundering charges.
