Emergency responders from Sawang Pratip Si Racha rescue unit in Chon Buri received a report at 5 p.m. on September 23 of a gunshot victim at an unnamed row house in Bang Phra subdistrict, Si Racha district. Police were called to investigate.
At the scene, officers found 36-year-old Saengkham, the victim, with severe injuries. She had approximately ten bullet wounds around her right knee and two additional wounds on her right ankle, with significant bleeding. Responders provided first aid before urgently transporting her to Laem Chabang Hospital.
The suspect is Kamtan, 52, the victim's father, who was detained by police along with a homemade 12-gauge shotgun.
Investigation revealed that Kamtan was in the bedroom with his daughter when he removed the shotgun to clean it outside the door. His daughter was sitting on the bed playing with her mobile phone. Kamtan began wiping the gun with a cloth without checking whether a round was still in the barrel. The weapon suddenly discharged with a loud bang, and the bullet struck through his daughter's knee and leg. Blood soaked the floor as she cried out in pain.
Kamtan denied having any argument or harsh words with his daughter. He acknowledged his mistake in failing to check the gun before cleaning it.
Police took Kamtan to Si Racha Police Station for further legal proceedings.
