Macao Tourism Teams With EASY! buddy on Culinary Campaign
Macao's tourism office partners with Thai restaurant chain EASY! buddy to promote Macanese cuisine through special menu items and flight prizes, targeting Thai travelers from September through November 2025.
Macao Government Tourism Office in Thailand (MGTO) is advancing its Tourism+ strategy through gastronomy tourism by partnering with EASY! buddy, Thailand's premium basil stir-fry restaurant brand, to launch the "Taste of Macao" campaign. The campaign showcases Macanese food culture through three special menu items and offers travel discounts plus 10 round-trip Bangkok-Macao flight prizes to attract Thai tourists during high season.
The campaign draws on Macanese dining culture, including the fast-casual "cha chan teng" style and the distinctive "Wok Hei" aroma, reinterpreted through EASY! buddy's cooking approach. It highlights Macanese cuisine, which blends Cantonese and Portuguese influences over more than 400 years, and reinforces Macao's status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
Urascha Chakkatharn, general manager of MGTO Thailand, said the partnership is part of a Partnership Ecosystem strategy that extends beyond traditional tourism industry collaboration. By partnering with EASY! buddy, a brand popular with younger consumers and boasting both Thai and foreign customers, MGTO aims to bring Macao's story into lifestyle experiences. The goal is to use food as a starting point to inspire consumers to travel to Macao, which is approximately 2 hours 45 minutes from Bangkok, and to explore the Greater Bay Area region covering Macao, Hong Kong, and nine other Guangdong cities.
Chef Buddy-Somthon Hattayoddom, EASY! buddy co-founder, said the partnership offers a business opportunity to introduce a Thai brand into the international tourism ecosystem. The three special Taste of Macao menu items blend EASY! buddy's signature wok-frying technique with Macanese food culture while maintaining the restaurant's identity. Currently, 80–90% of EASY! buddy customers are Thai, but locations in key tourist areas like CentralWorld and Siam Centre see Chinese customers representing up to 35% of traffic, reflecting potential to reach foreign tourists through food experiences.
The Taste of Macao menu features three items: Macanese min chee and salted duck egg (179 baht), a traditional Macanese dish combining fried potato chips wok-fried EASY! buddy style; Macanese fried rice with shrimp served with chili oil (219 baht); and Macanese pork chop omelette fried rice with salted duck egg (199 baht).
The campaign runs September 23–November 7, 2025 at all EASY! buddy locations. Customers who order campaign menu items receive 1,000-baht Traveloka discounts for Bangkok-Macao flights or accommodation. Bookings are limited. The campaign also includes a contest for 10 round-trip Bangkok-Macao flight prizes; rules and conditions are available on the Macao Government Tourism Office Thailand Facebook page. Winners will be announced November 15, 2025.
