Man Held Over Mysterious Death Under House
A 31-year-old man was held in custody in Amnat Charoen Province for the death of a 46-year-old found beneath a house, with investigators suspecting assault over a money dispute despite the suspect's denial.
On September 23, officers from Hua Tap Phan Police Station in Amnat Charoen Province detained Kittinun, 31, as a suspect in the mysterious death of Prayongchai, 46, who was found beneath a house in Baan Kham Phra subdistrict. He was taken to court to request remand in custody and is now held at Amnat Charoen Provincial Prison, facing charges of drug possession and assault causing death.
During questioning, the suspect denied harming the victim, stating he had gone to look for him, found him already lying down, tried to wake him unsuccessfully, and then left. However, investigators remain skeptical. Police chief Ratchayot Masaphun noted that evidence suggests the suspect may have been involved in the assault. Preliminary findings indicate the victim was struck on the right temple, lost consciousness, fell backward, and died subsequently.
Investigators found that data on the suspect's phone had been deleted and his clothing from the night of the incident had been washed. Police are treating a money dispute as a possible motive—the suspect allegedly had given the victim money to pass to a creditor, but the victim may not have delivered it. After repeated failed calls, the suspect allegedly went to the victim's home.
The preliminary autopsy from Sansai Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani found substantial bleeding beneath the brain membrane as the cause of death. CCTV footage shows a vehicle believed linked to the suspect arriving at the scene for 2–3 minutes, then departing around 7:30 p.m., heading toward the suspect's residence. Police are continuing to analyze timeline and additional CCTV footage.
