On September 5, 2025, the Thai Meteorological Department issued its eighth warning (188/2025) of heavy to very heavy rainfall affecting northern Thailand through September 7. Heavy rainfall is expected in parts of northern Thailand, with very heavy rain forecast for some areas in the eastern portion of the northeast region. The pattern is driven by a monsoon trough passing over the north and upper northeast, combined with moderate southwest monsoon winds covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
Residents in affected areas are urged to exercise caution regarding dangers from heavy accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and landslides, particularly in Mekong River basin areas, steep terrain near waterways, and low-lying zones. Travel along routes prone to repeated flooding, especially in low-lying areas that may experience brief inundation, should be avoided. Heavy rain expected across numerous provinces in the north including Chiang Mai, Lampang, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Phichit, and Phetchabun; northeast provinces including Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, and Surin; central provinces including Saraburi, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Bangkok, and surrounding areas; and eastern provinces including Nakhon Nayok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, and Trat.
