Thousands Seek Blessings at Auspicious Ritual in Chachoengsao

On September 5, 2025, at 1 p.m., thousands of followers and the public converged on Don Thong Temple in Phanat Nikhom District, Chachoengsao Province, to participate in sacred rituals with the renowned monk Phra Kru Sommangkon Chalemurit Kunesko, known as Phra Kru E, a respected figure in the Sai Moo tradition of Chachoengsao.

The gathering was driven by the belief that Saturday the 5th coinciding with a Buddhist holy day constitutes an auspicious occasion. Devotees believe such timing enhances the power of merit-making rituals, opening pathways to fortune, prosperity, and spiritual strength. The combination drew crowds seeking blessings to improve their lives.

Before the main ceremonies, participants offered tribute to their teacher and recited prayers of forgiveness, asking to release past karmic burdens. The ritual water blessing aimed to cleanse negative influences and spiritual impurities. The facial anointing is believed to unlock fortune and destiny, while hand anointing serves to "open the path to wealth," enabling recipients to attract financial success and flourishing business.

Beyond the spiritual ceremonies, lottery enthusiasts did not miss the opportunity to test their luck by drawing ping-pong balls. A 85-year-old woman, Khun Somboon, drew the numbers 982 after completing her blessings, prompting onlookers to photograph and record the numbers for their own lottery strategies. Similarly, Ms. B from Prachuap Khiri Khan drew 234 and plans to use these numbers in the government lottery draw scheduled for September 16, 2025. She explained that she came specifically because Saturday the 5th aligned with a Buddhist holy day, making it an ideal time for merit-making. After the ceremony, she felt more peaceful and energized, gaining the spiritual uplift she sought.
