Police Arrest Motorbike Taxi Driver After 2 Years on the Run
Police arrested a motorbike taxi driver in Bangkok on September 5 after he evaded capture for two years while serving a 30-year sentence for child sexual assault committed in 2019.
On September 5, 2026, officers led by Pol. Col. Siwavong Damrongsat, commander of Crime Suppression Division Unit 3, arrested Pisit (surname withheld), 48, according to an arrest warrant from Minburi Criminal Court No. 238/2566 issued on March 2, 2026. He faced charges of abducting and sexually assaulting a child under 15 years old. The court had sentenced him to 30 years in prison. Officers arrested him in the Ramkhamhaeng Soi 60 area of Bang Kapi district, Bangkok, as he was attempting to flee on a motorbike.
Investigations revealed the crime occurred in June 2019 when the defendant, working as a motorbike taxi driver, picked up a 14-year-old girl, deceived her, and took her to a room where he assaulted her. The victim's parents later filed a police report. After the court issued its verdict and an arrest warrant, the defendant jumped bail. Crime Suppression officers tracked him for approximately two years until they discovered he was working as a motorbike taxi driver in the Hua Mak area, leading to his arrest.
The defendant confessed to all charges and was handed over to Minburi Criminal Court for further legal proceedings.
