Hundreds Flock to Lucky Number Nine Ceremony in Nakhon Ratchasima

On September 9, 2025, at Jang Nuai Temple in Nakhon Ratchasima Municipality, Acting Abbot Kru Wornayok Sittakam presided over a merit-making ceremony involving blessed water from nine prominent temples in the province. The auspicious date of 9/9 drew hundreds of devotees from across the region and beyond, all seeking spiritual blessing, encouragement, and an opportunity to begin new chapters in their lives. The temple offered the ceremony free of charge to all participants.

Beyond the water blessing ritual, many brought motorcycles, cars, and vans—especially newly registered vehicles—for ceremonial blessing before use. Vehicle owners believe that blessing their cars on an auspicious date brings protection and safe travels for drivers and their families. The temple also conducted chanting sessions, prayers in the main hall, and allowed devotees to pay respects and make wishes at the shrine of Luang Por Jang, the temple's revered spiritual guardian.

The ceremony included rituals to dispel bad omens and negative influences, allowing participants to symbolically cast off misfortune and begin life anew with good deeds and mindfulness. Acting Abbot Kru Wornayok explained that the date 9/9 holds deep significance in Thai belief, with the number nine representing progress and prosperity. He emphasized that the true value of merit-making lies not in expense but in sincere intention, mindfulness, and applying Buddhist teachings to daily life.

After the ceremony concluded, many devotees visited nearby lottery ticket vendors seeking lucky numbers, particularly tickets ending in nine. The demand was so high that tickets ending in nine sold out quickly. The temple welcomes all faithful visitors to pay respects at Jang Nuai Temple in Nakhon Ratchasima and participate in Buddhist activities free of charge.
