Thailand Men's Volleyball Advances to Asian Championship Quarterfinals

Thailand's men's volleyball team advanced to the Asian Championship quarterfinals after defeating Chinese Taipei 3-2 in their final group match in Fukuoka, securing a matchup with Australia.

Thailand's men's volleyball star Anurak Punturam admitted the match against Chinese Taipei was difficult and frustrating. In the final group-stage match of the 2026 AVC Men's Volleyball Continent Championship in Fukuoka, Japan on September 9th, Thailand's world-ranked 50th team defeated Chinese Taipei (ranked 53rd) 3-2 to win Group C and advance to the quarterfinals against Australia. After the match, Punturam said the game was tough and tight, but the team will continue to play as they have trained. He called on all volleyball fans to support the team and help create a new chapter in history together. The young Thai volleyball team will face Australia, runners-up of Group A, in the upcoming quarterfinal round.
