Man Dies Mysteriously in Pickup Truck After Energy Drink
A 62-year-old man died suddenly in a pickup truck in Uthai Thani Province after drinking an energy drink offered by a village headman, with the driver reporting severe convulsions and chest pain before his death.
At 10:30 a.m. on September 9, 2025, Lieutenant Amrit Sirawat, the investigation officer at Taluk Du Police Station in Uthai Thani Province, was notified of a death inside a pickup truck parked in front of Ban Ta Chao School on the Ta Chao-Taluk Du road in Thap Than District. He arrived at the scene with patrol officers, a hospital doctor, and rescue personnel from Uthai Thani Emergency Response.
At the scene, officers found a white Nissan pickup truck parked on the roadside near a noodle shop. Inside was the body of Phayap, 62, who had been dead for at least 30 minutes. According to the truck owner Bunsong, he had been transporting rice flour from Uthai Thani to deliver to village headman Saiyant's house in Ban Wang Toey with two others, including the deceased. After unloading all the rice flour at the headman's house, Saiyant offered the deceased an energy drink, which he consumed entirely.
After driving about four kilometers back toward Uthai Thani, Bunsong noticed the deceased screaming repeatedly from the passenger seat, his body becoming rigid. The man was in severe convulsions and showing abnormal symptoms. Bunsong stopped the truck in front of the noodle shop and called for help from residents. However, the man was already dead by the time locals arrived. Bunsong noted that before his death, the man had complained of chest pain and had taken medicine to ease the discomfort.
The hospital doctor and police officers performed a preliminary autopsy before the body was transported by rescue personnel to Sawan Prachanuch Hospital in Nakhon Sawan Province for further investigation into the cause of death.
