Military Officer Has Psychiatric Episode on Commercial Flight
A Defence Ministry officer experiencing a psychiatric episode disrupted a flight from Malaysia to Bangkok on August 10, forcing cabin crew intervention before he was hospitalized for assessment.
On August 10, 2025, Defence Ministry spokesman Pol. Gen. Surasan Kongsiri addressed the incident involving a Second Lieutenant from the Ministry's Policy and Planning Office who experienced a psychiatric episode aboard a commercial flight. The officer had been undergoing mental health treatment for a pre-existing personal condition, but his symptoms worsened during the flight. Following the incident, he was transported to Phra Mongkut Hospital for further assessment and treatment. Video clips of the incident circulated on social media, showing a male passenger on a flight from Malaysia to Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport shouting and demanding the aircraft land, prompting cabin crew to intervene and calm him. It was later confirmed that the man was a military officer serving under the Defence Ministry.
