Dr. Surinth Warakitthamrong, Director-General of the Pollution Control Department (PCD), revealed that from late September to October 2026, flood conditions in Ang Thong province were impacted by water volumes in the Chao Phraya River and discharges from the Chao Phraya Dam, causing inundation in many areas and hardship for residents.
Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchat Chomklin ordered the PCD, through Environmental Office 6 (EO6), to work with local agencies to continuously monitor the situation and support environmental restoration to alleviate environmental and public health impacts.
Most recently, on October 30, 2026, EO6 joined the Ang Thong Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office to inspect conditions at Moo 6, Phung Pheng Subdistrict, Pa Mok District, Ang Thong. They found the flood situation had returned to normal, water levels had receded, and no foul odors from stagnant water were detected in the monitored areas.
During the visit, EO6 handed over 150 liters of Effective Microorganisms (EM) solution to the Ang Thong Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office for distribution to affected residents for environmental restoration. Meanwhile, the provincial office provided plastic bottles to EO6 for use as EM containers, promoting maximum resource utilization and circular economy principles.
The PCD Director-General added that even though flooding in monitored areas has normalized, the department remains focused on post-flood environmental restoration, particularly in areas that were inundated, which may face issues with waste, pollutants, wastewater, and unpleasant odors. The department will continue monitoring and providing appropriate environmental guidance.
Affected residents seeking EM solution can contact their local Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office or coordinate with EO6 for support.
