Missing Health Worker Found Dead in Chiang Mai Ravine
Health worker Niraporn, 25, was found dead in a Chiang Mai ravine with her motorcycle on Oct 31, a day after disappearing en route to buy food; police await autopsy results.
Tragic outcome: the body of 25-year-old health worker Niraporn, known as Mayd, has been found after she disappeared overnight. She was discovered dead in a ravine in Fang District, Chiang Mai, with her motorcycle beside her. Police have sent the body for an autopsy and say they have not ruled out any possibilities.
On October 31, reporters learned that Mayd, a health official at Nong Yaw, went missing on October 30 after riding her motorcycle to buy food at a nearby shop. Her father, Sai-an, 49, said the last CCTV footage showed her leaving the "Pae A Hang Moo" eatery, but she never appeared on the main road. When she could not be reached, relatives and police launched a search.
Around 3:20 p.m. on October 31, officers, rescue volunteers, and family members located her body in a ravine near the restaurant, the motorcycle having plunged down the slope. Investigators suspect she may have accidentally driven into the ravine and suffered fatal injuries, but they stress the cause remains undetermined pending autopsy and further interviews with relatives, her boyfriend, and witnesses, as well as a thorough review of CCTV footage.
