Mother And Daughter Die In House Fire With Pet Dog
An 80-year-old retired civil servant and her 40-year-old daughter died in a house fire in Nonthaburi on July 6, along with their pet dog, with electrical short circuit suspected as the cause.
On July 6, 2569, police at Ratnathibet Station in Nonthaburi received a report of a house fire in Soi Ngamwongwan 15, Bang Khae Subdistrict, Muang District, Nonthaburi. Firefighters from Nonthaburi Municipality responded and found a two-story wooden structure engulfed in flames. Three fire trucks deployed to spray water, and the fire was brought under control after approximately 30 minutes.
Searches revealed a dead dog on the ground floor and two human bodies on the second floor. The deceased were identified as Somr, 80, a retired civil servant and homeowner, and Ms. Priyarat, 40, her daughter. Both died from severe burns.
A neighboring resident, Ms. Thantada Saeng Uthai, 43, reported that she initially heard a loud noise while sleeping and thought it was a garbage truck. Upon waking and seeing orange flames, she alerted other neighbors and called police before evacuating her own household and vehicle. Firefighters arrived shortly after and extinguished the fire.
Police and medical examiners from the Institute of Forensic Medicine conducted autopsies confirming both victims died from burns. The fire is believed to have originated on the ground floor and spread upward, consuming the entire structure. Electrical short circuit is the suspected cause. Both bodies have been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
