Motorcycle Bomb Detonates in Pattani, Damages Passing Vehicle
An explosive device planted on a motorcycle detonated on Highway 42 in Pattani province on September 10, damaging a passing civilian vehicle but causing no casualties.
At 7:30 p.m. on September 10, attackers planted an explosive device on a motorcycle near a U-turn opposite a PTT fuel station on Highway 42 in Quan subdistrict, Panarae district, Pattani province, an area under Mueang Pattani Police Station's jurisdiction. Debris and shrapnel from the motorcycle were scattered across the roadway, prompting authorities to cordon off the area for safety and coordinate with bomb disposal and forensic teams. CCTV footage from the scene showed the attacker wearing a short-sleeved white shirt and what appeared to be a sarong, with a crossbody bag, who rode the motorcycle-mounted explosive device to the roadside, dismounted, and walked directly into nearby scrubland. Authorities believe the attacker used darkness to escape with an accomplice waiting nearby. Shortly after, the parked motorcycle detonated just as a civilian vehicle was passing, and the blast scattered wreckage that struck the civilian vehicle, causing damage but no injuries or deaths.
