Man Arrested for Sexual Act With Carp in Pond
A 51-year-old man was arrested in Bangkok after being caught sexually abusing a carp in a fish pond on September 7; he confessed to similar acts with animals in the past and admitted to drug use.
On September 10, 2025, Tung Song Hong Police Station Commander Yutthisit Karintr ordered his officers to arrest 51-year-old Sutthichai, nicknamed Toong, following an incident at a fish pond in Vibhavadi Rangsit 66 Soi on September 7 around 8 p.m. The pond owner was injured while pursuing the suspect after discovering him in the act. Closed-circuit camera footage showed the suspect arriving by bicycle at 8:30 p.m., exploring the pond area, and then committing the sexual act with a carp twice before the owner spotted him and gave chase. The suspect fled on his bicycle, and officers tracked him down that afternoon near Siam Kong Sukhumvit 4, approximately 20 minutes from the scene.
When questioned, the suspect confessed and claimed he came to bathe but became aroused upon seeing the fish swimming in the pond. He explained he chose carp because they do not hurt as much as catfish, which have spines. He also stated he had no money to go out and had no girlfriend. The suspect admitted to similar acts with other animals in the past, including dogs years ago, for which he was imprisoned by Bang Khen Police. He also confessed to drug use, claiming he cannot afford to buy drugs and uses whatever he can find.
The pond owner, Bobby, shared that he had been raising the carp for seven to eight years and had noticed the fish dying one or two at a time, each with curved bodies. He initially thought they were fighting or hitting the pond walls. After finding a discarded sex toy by the pond on September 7 afternoon, he reviewed his security camera footage and discovered the suspect's activities between 8 and 10 p.m. When he chased the suspect, who escaped on a bicycle, Bobby tripped over his flip-flops and was injured. After reporting the incident to police, Bobby learned the suspect had been seen near Siam Kong Sukhumvit 4. When officers attempted to apprehend him, the suspect fled across the road but was eventually captured. Bobby expressed concern about the suspect's social danger, noting that the man uses drugs, carries a knife, and poses a risk to others, especially women and children.
