Nine-Year-Old Stepchild Hospitalized with Ruptured Spleen and Liver

A nine-year-old boy has been hospitalized with severe injuries including a ruptured spleen and liver following abuse by his stepfather. Relatives have filed a police report, though the stepfather and the boy's mother have fled. The stepfather allegedly punched, kicked, and elbowed the child and burned him with cigarettes on the neck, then threatened him to claim the injuries were from a bicycle accident.

At 2:30 p.m. on September 15, 2026, staff from the Family Violence Prevention and Assistance Center of the Krabi Office of Social Development and Human Security brought the child's relatives to file a complaint at Khlong Thom Police Station. The stepfather and mother have been missing since the incident occurred.

According to relatives, the child lives with his grandparents but regularly stays with his mother and stepfather on weekends. The stepfather uses drugs and has physically abused the child before, though never to this extent. The child refused to stay with them this time, fearing further harm and having been threatened not to tell anyone. The mother learned of the incident but could not prevent it. The child was forced to lie and say he was injured in a motorcycle accident before being returned to his grandparents in poor condition. Relatives intend to pursue charges to the full extent of the law, despite the mother's objection, unwilling to leave the child in such danger.

Neighbors report the stepfather beat the child repeatedly without cause, though never this severely. The perpetrators have fled the area to an unknown location. The stepfather maintains close connections with local politicians, making apprehension difficult.

The child currently complains of abdominal pain. Medical examination at Khlong Thom Hospital confirmed a ruptured spleen and liver, requiring immediate transfer to Krabi Hospital.
