Teens Beat 5-Year-Old Boy After Sister Rejects Them
Two teenage boys in Trang province allegedly beat a 5-year-old boy with sticks and metal rods after his 12-year-old sister rejected their advances. The victim was lured to a nearby school and left severely bruised and traumatized. His mother has filed a police report and vows to pursue legal action against the attackers, aged 14 and 15.
Ms. A recounted that on November 3 around 4:30 p.m., after school let out, her young son was playing near their home when two neighborhood boys — 15-year-old 'Pond' and 14-year-old 'New' — approached him. They had previously tried to get her 12-year-old daughter to meet them, claiming they had her ID card which Pond had kept after taking her to a doctor when she was unwell. The daughter had gone to retrieve her card earlier but refused to return with her brother.
Around 5:30 p.m., the two boys followed the 5-year-old, put him on a motorcycle, and took him to the local school about 500 meters away. Neighbors who distrusted the older boys alerted the family. At 6:00 p.m., someone brought the boy home in a terrible state — crying, terrified, and covered in injuries. When his mother lifted his shirt, she found his back covered in wounds and severe bruising. Medical examination confirmed the injuries were consistent with being struck by both flat objects (sticks) and cylindrical metal rods.
The boy managed to walk partway home before a passerby helped him the rest of the way. Ms. A immediately filed a report at Yan Ta Khao Police Station and took her son to Yan Ta Khao Hospital, then transferred him to Trang Hospital for further treatment. The child is now deeply traumatized, fearing strangers and only allowing his mother and one relative near him. His back and arms remain badly bruised, requiring extended medical care.
Relatives of the alleged attackers have tried to visit, but the mother says she is not ready and intends to pursue the case to the fullest extent. Police are awaiting the boy's discharge from hospital to take his formal statement.
