NBTC Launches Community Network for Professional E-Waste Management
NBTC launched a community e-waste management network in Phetchaburi, teaching residents to recycle telecom equipment and reduce pollution.
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), as Thailand's telecommunications regulator, is tackling the rapidly expanding e-waste problem fueled by technological advancement and communication device usage. Under the concept "NBTC Connects Knowledge, Spreads Understanding: Thailand's Telecommunications Mission and Professional E-Waste Management," the agency conducted field activities from October 28-30, 2026, starting at Ban Tham Suea community in Kaeng Krachan district, Phetchaburi province. This model community for natural resource and environmental conservation is actively driving a tree bank initiative to restore forests and expand local green spaces. Hands-on learning embeds a culture where residents apply knowledge daily — understanding recyclable materials from communication technology, integrating community-driven e-waste management concepts, properly sorting and disposing of electronic waste, and repurposing telecom equipment and electronic materials to reduce pollution and protect the environment sustainably. Beyond raising awareness of individual responsibility, the initiative strengthens NBTC-community relations, relying on staff development and public relations networks with villagers as partners to achieve lasting results.
