Thailand Cuts Diesel, Benzene Prices from Nov 6
Thailand cut B7 diesel by 0.75 baht and benzene by 1 baht per liter effective Nov. 6, lowering retail diesel to 41.79 baht as global oil prices ease on reduced Middle East tensions.
On November 5, 2026, the Oil Fuel Fund Office (OFFO) committee approved a reduction in retail fuel prices, cutting B7 diesel by 0.75 baht per liter and the benzene group by 1 baht per liter to reflect softening global oil markets. The main driver is easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which has reduced supply disruption concerns, while Persian Gulf crude exports have risen. Markets also faced selling pressure from investors taking profits after the U.S. midterm elections and worries over a global economic slowdown dampening crude demand. On November 5, global diesel closed around $155 per barrel and gasoline around $105 per barrel, down from $166 and $112 respectively the previous day. The new fund rates take effect November 6.
Due to these positive factors, OFFO approved lowering the B7 diesel subsidy by 0.96 baht to 2.37 baht per liter, bringing the retail price to 41.79 baht per liter. B20 diesel sees its subsidy cut by 1.45 baht to 3.91 baht per liter, with the retail price unchanged. For the benzene group, the levy rises by 0.51 baht to 11.29 baht per liter, setting retail at 49.33 baht. Gasohol 95 and 91 levies increase by 0.38 baht to 3.37 baht, with retail prices of 39.84 and 39.47 baht respectively. Gasohol E20 levy rises by 0.23 baht to 2.73 baht (retail 31.80 baht), while Gasohol E85 sees its subsidy increase by 0.58 baht to 0.99 baht (retail 30.63 baht).
This price reduction helps lower living costs for the public and improves the Oil Fund's liquidity, reducing its daily compensation burden from a peak of 69 million baht. Despite the downward trend in global and domestic fuel prices, fuel conservation and efficient use remain essential for national energy security and long-term household savings.
