Nine Youths Assault 14-Year-Old Girl Over Rumor
Nine youths assaulted a 14‑year‑old girl at a sports field in Pattaya after a rumor about her makeup‑free photo spread online, beating her and filming the attack. Police arrested the suspects and are investigating the case with input from their parents and a multidisciplinary team. The girl’s mother urged other parents to supervise their children to prevent such violence.
At 5:00 a.m. on 16 October 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanongsak Inphadung of Pattaya City Police was alerted to a brawl at the youth sports centre on Thepprasit Soi 7, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri Province. Officers arrived to find a group of over ten teenagers gathered around the injured 14‑year‑old girl, identified only as Fa (pseudonym), who had scrapes and bruises across her body. Rescue workers gave her first aid before sending her to hospital. Meanwhile, police took nine youths into custody and informed their parents. The girl’s mother said the trouble started when Ms. A (pseudonym), 19, whom she identified as the ringleader, became angry after learning that her daughter’s makeup‑free photo had been gossiped about among friends. The group of youths acquainted with her daughter lured her to the beach under the pretence of hanging out, then took her to the sports field where they attacked her, recording the assault on video. Despite the girl’s attempts to wai and plead for mercy, the attackers continued, while others cheered and encouraged the violence. The mother expressed grave concern, noting the disparity in numbers and size, and urged other parents to closely monitor their children, warning that even minor disputes can spiral into serious harm and affect youths’ futures. Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanongsak Inphadung said the nine suspects have been detained and will be interviewed before a multidisciplinary team in accordance with juvenile‑justice procedures, and that evidence including the video will be examined for possible charges. He also advised parents to increase supervision during the school break, set clear curfews, and know where their children are and with whom they spend time to prevent involvement in illegal activities and ensure their safety.
