Opposition Plans No-Confidence Vote This Month Against Ministers
Opposition parties plan to file a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Anutin and Digital Economy Minister Chaiyachon by month's end, citing fraud allegations in civil service exams, Senate elections, and passport programs.
At 12:45 p.m. on September 12, 2025 at Parliament, Prasit Vachrasindhul, a Pheu Thai list MP and chair of the opposition parties' coordinating committee in the House of Representatives, confirmed that the opposition is preparing to file a no-confidence motion. A working group is currently drafting the motion details and compiling the list of ministers targeted for debate. The motion is expected to be completed and filed by the end of this month.
When asked whether the opposition is waiting for the Election Commission's decision on the Senate election case, Prasit said no, as the result will be known on September 14 anyway.
Regarding specific targets, Prasit identified two to three focus areas. The first covers publicly known issues such as fraud in local civil service exams, Senate election fraud, and the TH-AI Passport program. The second involves allegations the opposition has been investigating and gathering evidence on continuously but has not yet made public. The third category may include new issues emerging before the debate date.
Prasit stated that two ministers have been confirmed as targets: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaiyachon Chidchob. Additional ministers may be added as opposition parties continue gathering information.
When asked about potential links to individuals in Buri Ram province, Prasit said the formal charges must focus on the Prime Minister and cabinet ministers. However, if evidence shows they have been serving a particular person rather than the public, regardless of province, that would be included in the debate.
