Over 5,100 US Troops Arrive in Phuket After Warships Dock
Over 5,100 U.S. service members have come ashore in Phuket after the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush and destroyer USS Delbert D. Black docked at the deep‑water pier. The troops are scheduled to stay from October 4 to 9, with Patong Beach expected as a main destination. Local authorities and military police are coordinating security and transport, using 14 landing craft to ferry personnel from the ships to shore.
The USS George H.W. Bush carries about 4,820 personnel and is anchored roughly 1.78 nautical miles (3.3 kilometers) from Phuket’s deep‑water pier, while the USS Delbert D. Black has approximately 289 crew members, bringing the total to around 5,109. Personnel are being shuttled ashore by 14 landing craft, with the Regional Harbor Office in Phuket closely coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure safe and orderly sea traffic and transfer routes.
