AWC also revealed that it has revised its five‑year investment plan, increasing the total budget to 100 billion baht and shifting the start date to 2027 to develop world‑class landmarks in Bangkok, Pattaya and other key tourism destinations. The plan highlights 11 riverfront landmark projects along the Chao Phraya River, including upgrades to Asia The Riverfront and a proposed cross‑river cable car. The revisions are intended to align with the upcoming AWC Lifestyle Property Real Estate Investment Trust (AWR), which filed its registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 29, 2026 and is awaiting approval, with an expected launch in 2027. The initial trust portfolio comprises five assets valued at no more than 51.388 billion baht, led by The Empire—a 58‑story mixed‑use tower in Bangkok’s Sathorn district that offers 158,021 square metres of net leasable space, hosts over 200 quality tenants and enjoys a 99 % lease renewal rate. The Empire features the EA food and wellness destination, a large rooftop venue, the EA Wellness Club and Thailand’s first co‑living space, The Empire Residence, which provides free facilities for more than 25,000 people daily. The building holds international certifications including LEED Gold, WELL Core Platinum and Fitwel 2 Star.

Professor Criticizes Plan to Replace Sin Tax with General Budget

Professor Burachit Singkaneti opposes a government plan to replace the 2% sin tax with general budget allocations, saying it would benefit alcohol and tobacco interests and harm health‑prevention programs. A former deputy health minister warned the change would weaken disease‑prevention efforts, increase illness, cut public‑health funding and worsen hospital deficits. Experts maintain the earmarked tax is fiscally sound and legally compliant, with no need for legal amendment.
