On September 17, 2025, Sophon Saram, President of Parliament and Speaker of the House of Representatives, along with Maharnnop Dechwittaksa, honorary chairman of the Institute of the Throne Association, Dr. Titima Lorphipattana, honorary chairman and secretary of the Institute of the Throne Foundation, and other parliamentary officials, attended a groundbreaking ceremony at the home of Mr. Tu Misanthia in Nong Khu Noi subdistrict, Lam Plai Mat district, Buriram Province. The ceremony marked the launch of a house-building project for disabled and low-income residents, undertaken as a tribute to His Majesty the King.
Sophon explained that the initiative is a collaboration between the Goodness Club for the Nation's Father, the Institute of the Throne Foundation, the Institute of the Throne Association, the Anatthapon Saram Foundation, and the private sector. The project will build homes for residents across six districts of Buriram Province. Eligible recipients must have low incomes, face hardship, be disabled, and possess good moral character with no drug-related involvement.
The project aims to construct 10 homes across six districts, with plans for expansion in the future. Progress reports will be issued annually on the King's birthday to encourage public participation. Sophon stressed that the initiative reflects genuine goodwill and involves cooperation between local government and administrative authorities, aimed at improving quality of life with human dignity. "Buriram shows the goodness in people's hearts," he said.
Mr. Tu, the first beneficiary, expressed joy and gratitude, noting that the new home will significantly improve his family's living conditions. He previously lived in a cramped, deteriorating structure borrowed from his aunt and sometimes had to sleep in a shelter. As a community health volunteer facing hardship, he was selected for the program. The municipality is demolishing his old home and constructing the new one.
