Pasak Dam Warns Public of Increased Water Release
Pasak Dam in Lopburi Province will significantly increase water discharge starting September 30 due to high inflow, with the Pasak River expected to rise 3.5 to 4 metres as the reservoir reaches 96.5 percent capacity.
Pasak Dam in Lopburi Province issued an urgent notice on September 28 warning the public to monitor water conditions at the dam due to continuous water inflow into the reservoir and plans to increase water discharge. The Pasak River water level is expected to rise by approximately 3.50 to 4.00 metres above current levels.
Vasavorn Naknavol, Director of the Pasak Water Supply and Forest Maintenance Project, reported that as of September 28, the dam held 840.94 million cubic metres of water, representing 96.49 percent of its total capacity. Inflow stood at 737.78 cubic metres per second, equivalent to 63.74 million cubic metres daily, while current discharge was 25.07 cubic metres per second or 2.17 million cubic metres daily.
A seven-day forecast from the Irrigation Department predicted continued inflow of approximately 373.22 million cubic metres. To manage water levels appropriately, the dam will increase discharge from 25 cubic metres per second to 400 cubic metres per second, equivalent to 34.56 million cubic metres daily. The phased increase in discharge begins from September 30 onward to prevent damage to property from rising river levels. Residents in affected areas are urged to monitor the situation closely.
