Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Supalee Suthepanpanth disclosed progress in US tariff negotiations, confirming that agreement on core principles has been reached and that discussions are now in the technical and language-review phase. During the UN General Assembly in Washington, DC, she held smooth talks with the US Trade Representative, with the goal of completing negotiations before the US announces Section 301 tariff measures.
Thailand will continue trade negotiations with both superpowers to seek mutual benefit. Regarding concerns over trade rights violations, Thailand already has oversight measures in place and views the current situation as an opportunity to increase local content in raw materials and manufactured components, directly benefiting Thai businesses.
Supalee also reported on the Thailand-EU free trade negotiations, noting that round 10 began today in Phuket, with Thailand as host. The talks are scheduled between 28 September and 6 October 2025, targeting the closure of remaining provisions to achieve the agreement by year's end. She stated that this round aims to close approximately one-third of outstanding issues and confirmed she will attend the meetings.
