Bangkok Residents Await 9,000 Baht Flood Relief Per Household
Bangkok residents affected by flooding will receive 9,000 baht per household in relief, using uniform criteria applied nationwide, with the government allocating 2 billion baht from a central budget for flood response.
Government minister Paradorn Parisunanondkul announced on September 28 at Government House that Bangkok residents could expect 9,000 baht in flood relief per household, using uniform criteria applied across the country. The announcement came after a meeting of the Central Region Flood and Drought Prevention and Mitigation Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ekniti Nitithanpong and the Finance Minister.
The government has discussed detailed allocation plans with Bangkok authorities and confirmed full readiness to support residents. When asked whether Bangkok would receive the same 9,000 baht standard per household as other flood-affected provinces, Paradorn confirmed eligibility, stating that uniform criteria must apply nationwide, pending clarification of Bangkok's own budget and any additional state support required.
The government has prepared a 2 billion baht central budget allocation for 2569 to manage flooding since September 20 affecting the entire country and Bangkok. The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office will report all necessary flood impacts and relief measures to the cabinet for further action.
Regarding vehicle flood damage relief in Bangkok, Paradorn said the matter requires discussion and will be taken up at the cabinet meeting on September 29, with all agencies preparing their own plans for cabinet approval. From October 1 onwards, the national disaster insurance scheme managed by the Insurance Commission will cover new flood incidents, while pre-October 1 events remain the government's responsibility.
