Floods Strike 27 Thai Provinces, Affecting 1.7 Million People
Heavy rainfall has flooded 27 Thai provinces, affecting nearly 1.8 million people across 576,449 households, with Samut Prakan near Bangkok experiencing the most severe impact.
Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department Director Theeraphatt Katchammat said heavy, continuous rainfall has caused flooding across 27 provinces, 151 districts, 792 subdistricts, and 4,087 villages, affecting 576,449 households and 1,793,887 people as of 6 a.m. The northern provinces of Phitsanulok and Phetchabun have seen water levels decline, while central provinces including Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lopburi, Chainat, and Suphan Buri report rising or stable water levels. In Bangkok and surrounding areas, Samut Prakan province is most severely impacted with 259,824 households affected, followed by Ayutthaya with 17,964 households and Pathum Thani with 65,717 households. Authorities are coordinating rescue and relief efforts across all affected zones.
