PEA Wins Three Innovation Awards at APQO 2026
Provincial Electricity Authority won three innovation awards at APQO 2026 in Bali for AI-driven systems cutting power theft and automating debt collection.
The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) secured three innovation awards at the Asia Pacific Quality Organization 2026 (APQO 2026), held October 26–30, 2026, in Bali, Indonesia.
PEA received the following awards:
A four-star award for the Alert and Tracking Program for Electricity Bill Adjustments in Violation and Fault Cases to Reduce NTL (Non-Technical Loss Seeker). This tool consolidates and tracks bill adjustments stemming from faulty meters or equipment and electricity theft, enabling comprehensive, rapid, and efficient action. The program employs machine learning to analyze anomalies and assess loss volumes requiring bill adjustments, prioritizing follow-up to assist field staff.
A four-star award for Upgrading Electricity Sales Unit Analysis to Reduce Non-Technical Loss with AI (Machine Learning). The system pinpoints consumption points with abnormal behavior by leveraging the organization’s big data and external factor databases. It helps executives and operators prioritize meter inspections, using machine learning to classify customers into three groups — normal, meter-fault risk, and theft risk — and applying risk scoring to rank risk as high, medium, or low for more efficient and accurate inspection planning.
A four-star award for the Government Debt Tracking and Accelerated Collection System. The system analyzes, prioritizes, and automatically generates dunning letters transmitted via electronic postal services, replacing paper-based collection that was costly and time-consuming. This makes government debt management more cost-effective, reduces workload, and boosts satisfaction and loyalty among government customers.
