Pickup Truck Crashes Into Power Pole, Two Dead
A pickup truck crashed into a power pole in Bangkok's Bang Khun Thian District early September 20, killing two passengers while the driver survived with serious injuries; police are investigating high speed as a possible cause.
At 2:06 a.m. on September 20, Thian Thale Police received a report of a pickup truck that had crashed into a power pole near Soi Thian Thale 28 in the Tha Kham subdistrict, Bang Khun Thian District, Bangkok. Officers responded along with emergency medical staff from Erawan Medical Center and volunteers from the Pohakdekthung Foundation. At the scene, they found a bronze-grey Isuzu pickup truck bearing a Kamphaeng Phet license plate, badly mangled against the power pole. The driver, Thirawat (surname withheld), a 31-year-old pile-driving contractor, was rescued with serious injuries and taken to hospital. Rescue teams also found two male bodies crushed against the wreckage, which they extracted using cutting equipment. One victim was identified as Thawatchai (surname withheld), aged 23; the other remains unidentified, as no identification documents were found at the scene. Preliminary police investigations suggest the pickup was traveling at high speed before losing control and hitting the pole. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and awaiting further questioning of the injured driver to determine the cause of the accident.
