At 06:00 on October 9, 2026, a pickup truck rushing to take a sick relative to Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital struck a 69‑year‑old woman, identified as Mrs. Phorn, as she crossed the road in Ban Rai, Moo 15, Tha Ruea Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat. The woman died instantly. Police Lieutenant Colonel Yanyong Hirunburana of Chamua Police Station, together with hospital doctors and Tai Tek Tung Foundation rescuers, arrived at the scene. The truck, a bronze‑gold Toyota, suffered severe front‑end damage, and the driver was detained for investigation. According to the driver, he was speeding from Huai Yot District while transporting the ill relative when he hit the woman, who had left home to buy groceries opposite the road. Investigators are gathering evidence for further legal action.
