At 00:48 on 8 October 2026, a pickup truck struck a lone motorcycle on Highway 224 near Ban Kruad, Buriram, dragging it more than 100 metres before losing control and hitting a second motorcycle carrying three teenagers waiting to cross an intersection in Ban Sai Tho village. The impact killed a 15‑year‑old boy and a 15‑year‑old girl outright, while four others suffered serious injuries. The out‑of‑control pickup then slammed into a high‑voltage electricity pole, breaking it into three sections, and veered into a villager’s parked pickup, injuring the driver and front‑seat passenger severely. Police examined the scene and reviewed CCTV footage, which showed the pickup’s left‑side impact marks and contradicted the driver’s claim that the first motorcycle had crossed into his lane. Villagers and relatives described the chaotic scene and the grief at the funerals of the two teenage victims.
