PM Anutin Appoints Three Experts to Data Center Policy Board
PM Anutin has appointed three experts to oversee Thailand's data center policy, aiming to guide investment decisions based on economic benefit, environmental protection, and national security standards.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has signed Prime Minister's Order No. 725/2569 appointing three expert members to the Data Center Business Operations Policy Committee under the 2569 regulations. The committee is headed by a deputy prime minister designated by the PM and can include up to three expert appointees.
The three new experts are: Choti Trachu, former Permanent Secretary of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry; Supoj Techwarsinsukul, former Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Chulalongkorn University; and Theerapat Chiasiripongkul, Associate Vice President for Administration at Thammasat University's Rangsit Center. The appointments took effect September 3.
The committee now has 21 total members, including three deputy chairs representing the Digital Economy and Society, Interior, and Energy ministries, plus 14 ex-officio positions from various government agencies. Committee duties include proposing policies and frameworks for data center investment promotion and approval, analyzing environmental and economic impacts, and reporting quarterly to the cabinet. Approval criteria must consider national economic benefit, clean energy use, energy security, fair resource allocation, urban planning, public safety, environmental protection, and data sovereignty.
