PM Anutin Opens World Horticultural Expo in Udon Thani
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul opened the World Horticultural Expo in Udon Thani, a 134-day event showcasing Thailand's agricultural innovation, biodiversity, and alignment with the BCG economic model. The government expects the expo to benefit farmers, businesses, and tourism while strengthening Udon Thani's status as a national agricultural and food hub.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony of the World Horticultural Expo at the Nong Kha Wetland in Udon Thani on November 2 at 6:20 PM.
The Prime Minister stated that this year's expo runs for 134 days and provides a crucial opportunity to welcome visitors from around the world to see Thailand's potential in horticulture, agriculture, and biodiversity. The event serves as a stage demonstrating how plants, water, and people connect — from plant species conservation and wetland areas to climate change adaptation and technology for quality production. These approaches align with driving the BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) economy model, integrating bio-economy, circular economy, and green economy simultaneously.
The expo enables farmers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and various sectors from multiple countries to exchange knowledge and link cooperation for market development and business opportunities.
The Prime Minister added that the government hopes the expo brings widespread benefits to the public — farmers, hotels, service businesses — while elevating Udon Thani's role as a hub for agriculture, food, and tourism.
At the close of his remarks, the Premier said he wasn't worried about rain since it's a plant expo and rain brings success. His only fear was lightning, given the many pavilions, and noted he himself was staying in the area.
