PM Orders Crackdown on Din Daeng Illegal Gambling Den
Authorities raided an illegal gambling operation in Din Daeng, Bangkok on September 23, arresting a foreign operator and prompting the Prime Minister to order a swift crackdown on the network's owners and any complicit officials.
Deputy Interior Minister Warasit Leangprasit revealed on September 24, 2025, details of the coordinated operation by administrative forces and parliament's oversight committee that dismantled the illegal gambling den operating inside an apartment building in Din Daeng, Bangkok, on September 23. He stated that during the raid, a mystery phone call came in, and the operator was found to be a foreigner running the operation from a building in central Bangkok amid a densely populated residential area.
Leangprasit reported the matter to Prime Minister Anuthin Charnweerakul and the Interior Minister, currently serving abroad. The Prime Minister instructed authorities to expedite the investigation and prosecute offenders as quickly as possible.
Leangprasit said he has directed the Interior Ministry's special operations unit and coordinating agencies, including the police and National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, to rapidly identify the mystery phone number's owner and pursue the real gambling den owner for prosecution. Authorities will also investigate the foreign national claiming ownership, and if they meet criteria under the Prime Minister's Office deportation regulations of 2025, the case will proceed without exception.
As Bangkok's administrator, Leangprasit has ordered the Bangkok governor to investigate officials in Din Daeng district, particularly regarding building permit approvals, and to check whether any state officials were involved in or aware of the illegal gambling operation. Any state officials found to be implicated will face decisive criminal and disciplinary action without exception.
"We will continue deep investigation into the network behind the operation, the real owners, and the full profit-distribution structure," Leangprasit stated. "Din Daeng is not the last area we will examine. We have information from multiple locations. We warn those continuing to break the law to stop. The Interior Ministry is committed to enforcing the law seriously and decisively to restore peace and prosperity to Thai society sustainably."
