Police Bust Drug Ring Selling Zombie Vapes and Ice
Police arrested two Chinese nationals and a Thai woman in Bangkok's Kannayao district after raiding a luxury home operating as an illegal distribution center for drug-laced vaping devices and methamphetamine worth 2.5 million baht.
Police Division 191 raided a luxury home in Bangkok's Kannayao district and arrested two Chinese men and one Thai woman suspected of illegally selling Zombie electronic cigarettes and narcotics worth a combined 2.5 million baht. Police Commander Siam Bunsawm ordered the operation conducted by deputy commander Ek Likhittanasombat and Natthadanai Bamrusri. The arrested individuals were identified as Jarr (name withheld), 27, a Thai national; Mr. Yu (name withheld), 37, a Chinese national; and Mr. Guan (name withheld), 34, a Chinese national.
Sized materials included 839 electronic cigarette pods mixed with etomidate, 988 vaping devices, 17 bottles of vaping liquid containing etomidate, 1.9 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice), three packets of happy water (methamphetamine), one sealing machine, and 12 packs of plastic bags. Police had been investigating after receiving a tip that the residence served as an illegal distribution center for K-Pod vapes, commonly known as Zombie cigarettes. An undercover officer purchased one pod cartridge for 1,600 baht through a Line application, and when Jarr came outside to hand over a white package to a delivery driver, police presented the search warrant and entered the house.
Inside, police found the two Chinese nationals on the first floor. A search revealed ice weighing 1.9 grams on a ceramic spoon along with drug paraphernalia. A subsequent search of other areas in the house uncovered additional narcotics. Document checks revealed Mr. Yu could not produce a passport, while Mr. Guan's travel documents were valid. All three were tested for drug use at the National Health Institute, where Mr. Yu tested positive.
Jarr was charged with violating the electronic cigarette sales ban, violating the Customs Act Section 246, and possession of happy water (methamphetamine). Mr. Yu faced identical charges plus illegal entry into Thailand. Mr. Guan was charged with violating the e-cigarette sales ban, the Customs Act, and possession of crystal methamphetamine. All three confessed to the charges and were transferred to Bang Chun Police Station for further proceedings.
