Police Chief Orders Investigation After Gambling Den Raid in Bangkok
Police raided a major gambling den in Bangkok's Din Daeng district on September 23, arresting over 50 people and seizing evidence, prompting the police chief to order an investigation into possible negligence by local officers.
Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liangprasith led a special operations unit from the Department of Local Administration in a raid on a major gambling operation in Bangkok's Din Daeng district. The operation resulted in the arrest of more than 50 gamblers and the seizure of significant evidence on the evening of September 23. At 19:30 on September 23, Bangkok Metropolitan Police Commander General Sayam Bunyasorn instructed Deputy Commander Worasit Pisitbannakorn and the commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1 to establish a committee to investigate the facts and examine any lapses. Police Lieutenant Colonel Pasit Kateungngoen, commander of Din Daeng Police Station, and related officers are under review. If negligence is found that allowed the gambling operation to continue, disciplinary action will be considered. The commanders under Metropolitan Police Division 1 are currently being evaluated for further assignment to the division's operations unit.
