Police Reject Safe Key Delivered by Benz Son's Aide
Police refused to accept a safe key delivered by a representative of Benz, son of Mother Phat, insisting Benz himself must appear to open the safe with investigators. Benz said he is mentally and physically unwell and promised to come tomorrow, but has not yet provided a specific time. Authorities have issued a summons for Benz and are treating the case as a property-related matter.
Police officials said the representative handed over one safe key, but investigators declined to keep it because they want the person allegedly involved to bring it personally, as both parties must be present when opening the safe to ensure transparency. They noted that if Benz is innocent, he should come himself and they will treat him fairly. The man who delivered the key identified himself as a courier, but police suspect he is part of Benz’s team and sent him away. Police have taken statements from two parties and will be impartial; the case has drawn public interest and initial charges relate to property offenses. Police said they have issued a summons for Benz, whose arrival time depends on him. Benz explained he has not brought the key himself because he is mentally and physically unwell—he cannot eat or sleep—and fears he would not be able to communicate effectively if he appeared now. He stressed he does not want to speak to the media and feels pressured by publicity, but confirmed he will go to the station tomorrow, though he cannot give an exact time as he must settle company documents, staff matters and pending shipments. Benz added he mistakenly thought giving the key to officers would open the safe, but after being told by the station commander he must be present to open it, he asked to postpone until tomorrow due to his unresolved health condition.
