Former Nonthaburi legislator Chaloeng Riuaraeng opened fire on Thongchai Yenprasert, the Nonthaburi PAO governor, killing him outside the PAO office. The shooting is believed to have stemmed from personal grievances and a 11-million-baht loan dispute.
On August 10, Deputy Provincial Police Commander Chokechai Kanachoen, Supachai Srisak (Nonthaburi Provincial Police chief), and more than 20 investigators from Nonthaburi Provincial Police and Rattanakosin Subdistrict Police took Chaloeng into custody and conducted a search of his residence in Suanyal Subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi District.
