Politician Challenges Pheu Thai Party Over Election Commission Defense
A Pheu Thai MP questions why her coalition partner Bhumjaithai is aggressively defending the Election Commission, suggesting the party may be protecting allies rather than serving public interests.
Rangsanok Srinork, a Pheu Thai party list MP, has strongly questioned why Supachai Jaisamut, a Bhumjaithai party list MP, is defending the Election Commission so vigorously. On September 4, 2025, Srinork posted on Facebook criticizing Jaisamut's warning to Pheu Thai not to use parliament to pressure the Election Commission (EC), which has escalated into a no-confidence debate over the independent agency. She questions whether parliament and the government should be defending the EC to this extent.
Srinork argues that parliament's distinguished role should be used to protect the highest interests of the public, not to shield party allies and networks. She criticizes Bhumjaithai for strongly defending the EC and using the party's Facebook page to counter criticism, asking whether other agencies face the same treatment. She questions whether someone in the Election Commission is a patron of Bhumjaithai's leadership.
"It is now clear that the Bhumjaithai government is using the lives of people in three southern border provinces as a cover story to defend the Election Commission," Srinork stated.
