Police Raid Eight Entertainment Venues in Safe Wangtong Drive
Police raided eight entertainment venues in Bangkok's Maharaj Soi zone as part of the Safe Wangtong safety initiative, finding no drug use or violations among 35 patrons tested and no illegal activities at any location.
Metropolitan Police Division 4, in coordination with Wangtong Police Station and SWAT units, launched coordinated inspections of eight service establishments in the Maharaj Soi zone to advance the "Safe Wangtong" policy. The continuous enforcement operation, initiated at 11 p.m. on September 3, 2025, was led by Deputy Commander Pongjak Jaksurak along with multiple police officers including Jessada Yangnok, commander of Wangtong Station, and representatives from various units.
The inspections covered eight venues including Maharaj Bar, Seses Bar, Lamer 90, Library Bar, K. Kaeng, Loft Two Bar, Tasty Bar, and Wake Up. Officers conducted identity verification of patrons and staff, screened for illegal weapons, monitored for human trafficking and prostitution indicators, and conducted random drug testing. Compliance checks included verifying business licenses, enforcing the ban on patrons under 20, monitoring noise levels, and preventing disturbances.
Of 35 random urine tests conducted on tourists and patrons, no drugs were detected in any samples, and no violations or illegal activities were found at any of the eight establishments. Police stated they will continue intensive patrols and targeted inspections at high-risk locations to ensure public safety and property security in the area.
