Residents of Wang Ta Chang subdistrict in Prachuap Khiri Khan are urgently evacuating as floodwaters from overflowing streams inundate all 23 villages in the area. Since overnight on September 25, water has spread across multiple zones, making even small vehicle passage impossible and forcing emergency removal of possessions as levels in Wang Ta Chang canal continue to rise.
Rural road 2006 connecting Wang Ta Chang and Prong Yai is submerged over a 1-kilometre stretch with water depth of 25 centimetres and powerful currents. Water from Wang Ta Chang canal has now breached the Wang Ta Chang community with levels above 1 metre. The Wang Ta Chang subdistrict administration has coordinated rescue efforts with the Buddhist Dhamma Foundation and army units from the Prachuap Regional Command to continuously evacuate bedridden patients and belongings as water volume rises steadily and rain persists.
Pattharin Phumonee, head of Wang Ta Chang subdistrict administration, reported that rescue and military personnel have successfully assisted flooded residents throughout the morning. Community leaders from all 23 villages have confirmed widespread flooding with varying depths. Water continues to rise due to continuous rainfall across the Wang Ta Chang market community. The subdistrict has opened evacuation centres at the Wang Ta Chang administration office and Wad Wangdinsok temple for displaced residents.
