Prachuap Khiri Khan Braces for More Flooding After 150mm Rainfall
Vice Governor Prida Sukjai inspected flood-hit Bang Saphan districts after 150mm of rain caused flash
Vice Governor Prida Sukjai led a delegation to inspect flood-hit areas in Bang Saphan and Bang Saphan Noi districts after overnight downpours dumped over 150 millimeters of rain, causing flash floods and reservoir overflows. The team checked the Khlong Lat drainage canal in Phong Prasat subdistrict, a key waterway, and oversaw emergency dredging of blocked canal mouths to boost drainage capacity. They also assessed conditions at the Khlong Din Ngio bridge in Moo 6, Ban Don Takian village, and instructed agencies to monitor the situation closely and stand ready to assist residents.
Prida said the province has coordinated district chiefs, local leaders, and agencies on a multi-pronged response covering traffic management, evacuations to temporary shelters, food and supply distribution, and care for those in flooded zones. Contingency drills have been conducted in case conditions worsen. Although floodwaters have begun receding as drainage to the sea resumes, high tides from morning until noon are slowing outflow; officials will accelerate pumping once tides ebb after midday.
The Meteorological Department forecasts continued heavy rain tomorrow, so district chiefs and village heads have been ordered to maintain strict vigilance, especially in low-lying communities and households with vulnerable residents. People are urged to follow official announcements and prepare for possible evacuation. Local administrations will fund initial relief from their own budgets, with district and provincial support available if needed. All areas have readied shelters, evacuation routes, drainage operations, and safety measures to respond immediately if the situation escalates.
