Heavy Rain Floods Health Clinic in Prachuap Khiri Khan
Continuous heavy rain flooded a health clinic and submerged a 500-meter stretch of Highway 304 in Prachuap Khiri Khan province on September 22, forcing the hospital to close temporarily and disrupting traffic during rush hour.
Heavy rain fell continuously overnight and into the morning of September 22, 2026, across Prachuap Khiri Khan province, triggering severe flooding. The Ban Kok Udom Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital was inundated, with water entering the examination rooms, pharmacy, and document storage. Staff and village health volunteers worked urgently through difficult conditions to move medicines, medical equipment, and office supplies to safe higher ground, and the facility announced a temporary closure to protect patients.
On Highway 304 near Nong Kee Municipality office in Kabinburi district, floodwaters covered the road surface over a span of more than 500 meters, with average depths of 20–30 centimeters and some areas reaching 50 centimeters. The situation was compounded by water flowing down from the Kabinburi Industrial Zone, severely disrupting traffic during rush hour. Small vehicles and motorcycles struggled to pass, with some engines stalling in the water.
Police, highway officials, and volunteers from Kabinburi Police Station worked to manage traffic and ensure safety. Nong Kee Municipality Mayor Udom Naewsuk toured the area on foot, confirming that the flooding resulted from continuous heavy rain combined with the area's naturally low topography, which feeds runoff from the industrial zone. The existing drainage system could not handle the volume. Authorities cleared debris blocking drainage pipes, opened highway barriers to allow water flow, and coordinated with the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office to deploy water pumps to drain the area as quickly as possible. Officials said that if rain does not resume, conditions are expected to return to normal soon.
