The article reports that DSI Region 4 arrested a former community developer from Khok Sawang Subdistrict Municipality in Khon Kaen after she fled for seven years. She embezzled over 121,200 baht in elderly welfare funds by forging signature
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) Region 4 arrested a former well-known municipal community developer who embezzled elderly welfare funds totaling over 121,200 baht and had been fleeing for seven years, hiding in a rental room in downtown Khon Kaen.
At 4:00 PM on October 29, 2026, Pol. Maj. Gen. Jirawat Sutha, Commander of DSI Region 4, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Thammarot Ngaochai, Director of the Government Corruption Suppression Division 2, led DSI Region 4 officers together with Tha Phra Police Station, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province to track and arrest Ms. Phasuda (surname withheld), former community developer, suspect in the case of embezzling elderly welfare funds worth over 121,200 baht, pursuant to an arrest warrant from the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases Region 4, No. Jor 17/2569 dated April 3, 2026.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Jirawat Sutha stated the suspect was a community developer attached to Khok Sawang Subdistrict Municipality, Khok Sawang District, Khon Kaen Province, assigned to disburse elderly welfare funds in the area. However, she abused her authority by forging signatures to collect cash on behalf of eligible recipients, used names of ineligible individuals as supporting documents to withdraw advance funds, failed to return remaining money to the municipality, and corruptly misappropriated 121,200 baht for herself.
Later, the DSI committee found grounds for charges, but the accused failed to meet prosecutors to be indicted within the appointed deadline. DSI officers therefore requested an arrest warrant to bring her in for prosecution.
Investigation revealed the suspect had fled and was hiding at a rental room in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. DSI officers together with Tha Phra Police successfully apprehended her and delivered her to the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases Region 4 for legal proceedings.
However, the suspect or defendant remains presumed innocent until the court issues a final verdict, and the alleged wrongdoing stems from personal actions unrelated to her parent agency.
