Sophia Mongomery, a Thai-American sailor, posted a thank-you message after winning the Asian Games gold medal and securing a spot at the 2028 Olympics, saying she could not be happier. She excelled in the nine qualification races, leading with the lowest penalty total of 21 after dropping her worst race. In the final she competed in two races, adding five penalty points for a total of 26, the lowest overall, to claim gold and the Olympic 2028 berth. Recently, the 23-year-old athlete shared on social media that she won the Asian Games championship and brought Thailand an Olympic ticket for LA 2028, expressing that she sailed with love, thanked everyone for their support and encouragement, said she couldn’t be happier, and especially thanked her support team, her mother and aunt Bum who flew to be by her side.
