Sarach Ready to Lead Thailand to King's Cup Triumph
Thailand national team midfielder Sarach Yuuen says he is ready to join the squad for the King's Cup and hopes the War Elephants can finally win the tournament after recent runner-up finishes in the ASEAN Cup. Thailand lost to Indonesia on penalties in the 2026 ASEAN Cup final and had previously been defeated by Vietnam in the same competition's final. The 52nd King's Cup will be held in Sisaket province in November, with Bahrain, Oman, and Tajikistan also taking part.
Sarach Yuuen, the experienced Thailand national team midfielder, affirmed his readiness to play for the War Elephants in the King's Cup and expressed his hope that the team can finally win the tournament after a string of runner-up finishes. He noted that Thailand had just lost to Indonesia in a penalty shoot-out in the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup final held in Indonesia, earning only second place, after previously falling to Vietnam in the 2026 ASEAN Cup final. The side will now compete in the 52nd King's Cup, scheduled to take place in Sisaket province. Sarach commented that the ASEAN Cup brings out each country's strongest lineup, raising the intensity and technical level, which was evident in the final where the situation shifted many times over 90 and 120 minutes. He admitted that Thailand might have been slightly at a physical disadvantage in the first half against Indonesia, but praised the coach's preparation and the players' execution of their duties. Regarding the King's Cup, Sarach said he is always available when called up, will give his full effort, and believes the tournament presents a good opportunity to claim the trophy on home soil after two recent disappointments. He added that the squad still has plenty of quality players — such as Thicha, Thananat, Jonatan, Benjamin Davis, Weraphat, and Chanathip — who are in good form, and that the coach's tactics and player rotation will give everyone a chance to shine. The national team's staff will review performance and prepare for upcoming tournaments, with the King's Cup set for the FIFA window in November, featuring Bahrain, Oman, and Tajikistan as participants.
